Registration lasts one year and patients must meet specific appointment requirements to renew registration. In order to renew your certificate, you must follow up with your behavioral health provider:
– 4 appointments in a one-year period if you were prescribed medication by a provider.
– 2 appointments in a one-year period if you are solely receiving counseling services from a provider.
Emotional Support Animals (ESA) add an additional layer of mental health support to patients during their time of need. Emotional support animals (ESAs) can provide comfort and support to individuals with a wide range of psychiatric conditions. While ESAs are not trained to perform specific tasks like service animals, their presence can help alleviate symptoms associated with various mental health disorders.

Conditions remedied with ESAs:

– Anxiety Disorders – An ESA can provide a calming presence during episodes of heightened
anxiety, reducing physical symptoms like rapid heart rate and aiding relaxation.
– Depressive Disorders – The consistent companionship of an ESA can alleviate feelings of
loneliness and provide motivation to engage in daily activities.
– Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): ESAs can provide grounding and a sense of safety for
individuals dealing with trauma-related symptoms, such as flashbacks or hypervigilance.
– Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): The companionship of an ESA can help reduce stress
and anxiety associated with obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors.
– Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): An ESA can provide a calming presence,
helping individuals manage restlessness and improve focus.
– Mood Disorders – An ESA can help stabilize emotional fluctuations by offering unconditional
love and a nonjudgmental presence during mood swings.
